Our story

The village’s past has been shaped by many changes, and our house changed its role along with them. Our family’s life has always been closely connected to gold mining in Roșia Montană. The Historical Center House

offers 4 museum-style accommodation spaces with separate entrances, as well as the Museum in the Attic. Details here.

The Bank Room

In this historic house, Roșia Montană’s first bank operated in the late 19th century, where gold extracted from underground was exchanged for money and explosives. Here, you will discover the journey of gold, preserved through photographs, rocks, and tools from the past. See details here.

Grandma's Room

A small house with a bathroom and kitchen, where you will discover the artistic side of miners’ wives. An old sewing machine, a small loom, and various textile works will show you how grandmother passed on her delicacy, patience, and care for others. See details here.

The Resistance Room

A studio where you can discover the Save Roșia Montană campaign, launched in opposition to the mining project that threatened the village in order to exploit the remaining gold. Articles, photographs, and testimonies from that time tell the story of the community’s resistance and the protests that followed. See details here.

The Vinyl Room

A small space where you will discover that Roșia Montană’s wealth was measured not only in gold, but also in culture. Vinyl records, photographs, and memories from the village tell the story of a vibrant community where music, film, and gatherings among people were part of the village’s charm. See details here.

The Museum in the Attic

and the Miner’s Trail

Book a guided tour with the host of the Museum in the Attic and the exhibitions at The Historical Center House, where old tools, objects, and family memories tell the story of the village. The tour can be extended with the Miner’s Trail, a hike that takes us to the mining gallery, the gold processing plant, and the agricultural land. See details here.
