The House in the Center

Our guesthouse in the historic center of Roșia Montană offers 4 museum-style accommodation spaces, each with a separate entrance, arranged around a shared courtyard and a museum set up in the attic. Each space tells a story from the past.

The Bank Room

This historic house was home to Roșia Montană’s old bank in the 19th century, where gold extracted from underground was exchanged for money and explosives. Here, you can discover the journey of gold through photographs, rocks, and tools from the past.

Grandma’s Room

A cozy little house with its own bathroom and kitchen, where you can discover the artistic side of miners’ wives. An old sewing machine, a small handloom, and various textile works reveal how Grandma passed down her delicacy, patience, and care for others.

The Resistance Room

A studio where you can discover the Save Roșia Montană campaign, launched in opposition to the mining project that threatened the village in an attempt to extract the remaining gold. The articles, photographs, and testimonies here tell the story of the community’s resistance and the protests of that time.

At the bottom, there is a pull-out bed measuring 80 cm, or 160x200 cm when extended.

Upstairs, there is a 120x200 cm bed.

The Vinyl Room

A small cottage where you will discover that Roșia Montană’s wealth was measured not only in gold, but also in culture. The vinyl records, photographs, and memories found here tell the story of a vibrant community, where music, film, and gatherings were part of the village’s charm.

The lower part of the room – a sofa and a display of objects from the 1970s.

Bathroom (shower, toilet, sink)

The lower table folds down, transforming the space into a kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave, alongside the internal staircase.

The Courtyard

The courtyard of the house in the center is shared by all four accommodation spaces and features a gazebo with dining areas, hammocks, relaxing spots, a map with local attractions to visit, and a guitar area.

Food

We have a local neighbor who can prepare home-cooked meals and deliver them directly to your accommodation. You will find her contact details in the check-in instructions you will receive once your reservation is confirmed.
Restaurants: just a 2-minute walk away is Bistro Roșia Montană. About 15 minutes by car, you can also find Regal Câmpeni, La Pociu Câmpeni, and Restaurant Laguna, Abrud.
Grocery stores: Transmontana is a 3-minute walk away, or you can drive about 15 minutes to Peny Câmpeni.
Barbecue: barbecuing is not allowed in the courtyard, but we recommend the designated barbecue areas with a beautiful view at Tăul Brazi (5 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot).
During check-in, you will receive a list of local producers where you can purchase local products such as milk, eggs, cheese, țuică, afinată (blueberry liqueur), and herbal teas made from locally gathered plants.
